Public meetings and events


Sept. 5 – Master gardener Q&A session. 1:30-2:30 p.m. South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton. Register by calling 770-528-4070.

Sept. 6 – "Find Your Balance in Cobb" fitness obstacle course. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs St., Marietta.

Sept. 7 – Miller Park Event Center ribbon cutting ceremony. 11 a.m. Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta.

Sept. 7 – Candlelite Concert Series, featuring Tray Dahl and the Jugtime Ragband. 8 p.m.Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. Free general admission.

Sept. 8 – Truck-a-Palooza. 10 a.m.-3:330 p.m. Town Center Mall, in the lower parking deck by Sears. $5 per person; $20 max per family.

Sept. 8 – Free vision screening by North Cobb Lions Club. 2-4 p.m. Kennesaw Library, 2250 Lewis St., Kennesaw. Free and walk-ins welcome.

Sept. 11 – Board of Commissioners regular meeting. 9 a.m. BOC Room second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

Sept. 11 – Free vision screening by Paulding-West Cobb Lions Club. 2-4 p.m. West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane, Kennesaw. Free and walk-ins welcome.

Sept. 12 – Board of Zoning appeals/variance hearing. 1 p.m. BOC Room second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

Sept. 13 – Free gun safety class, hosted by Cobb County Sheriff's Office. 6 p.m. Ron Anderson Community Center, 3820 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs.

Sept. 15 – Second annual Pretty Healthy Fair. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. South Cobb Recreation Center, 85 Riverside Parkway, Austell. Free and open to public. Healthy cooking demos, HIV testing and education, raffles and giveaways, skin cancer screenings, personal fitness assessments, Zumba lessons and more.
